FAQ

Do you accept insurance?

Powers Within Therapy is a private-pay practice and does not bill insurance or provide superbills. This allows us to keep the process simple and focused on your care. Payment is due at the time of service.

Do you offer in-person sessions?

At this time, Powers Within Therapy is a fully virtual practice and all therapy sessions are provided through secure telehealth. You must be physically located in Arizona at the time of your appointment.

What does “supervised private practice” mean?

As an LMSW, I am a licensed master’s-level therapist working toward independent clinical licensure. Powers Within Therapy operates with approval from the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners and under the guidance of an independently licensed clinical supervisor.

I will be your therapist throughout your care, while my supervisor provides clinical consultation and oversight to support thoughtful, ethical, and high-quality treatment. You’ll receive information about my supervisor and the supervision process as part of your informed-consent paperwork.

What can I expect during the free consultation?

The free consultation is a relaxed, 15-minute phone call where we can briefly discuss what brings you to therapy, what you’re looking for, and whether we might be a good fit. You’re welcome to ask questions about my approach, scheduling, or fees. There’s nothing you need to prepare and no obligation to schedule afterward.

Why do I need to have my camera on for the free consultation?

The free consultation is conducted by video so we can briefly meet face-to-face, discuss what you’re looking for in therapy, and determine whether working together may be a good fit. Having your camera on also helps create a more personal and connected conversation. Because the consultation is offered as a video appointment, your camera will need to be on for the duration of the consultation.

What can I expect during therapy sessions?

You don’t need to come to therapy knowing exactly where to begin. We’ll start by getting to know you, what brings you to therapy, and what you’d like to work toward. From there, sessions are tailored to your needs and may include processing experiences, exploring patterns, developing coping skills, or working toward meaningful goals—all at a pace that feels right for you.

What if I want to contact the Clinical Supervisor

You are welcome to contact my clinical supervisor at any time with questions or concerns related to my supervised practice or your care. My Board-approved clinical supervisor is Nicole Carlson, LCSW, PMHNP-BC. She can be reached at (626) 515-8875 or nicole@wwwanderist.com
